Long overdue review for Pie ’n Burger. This was my first meal when I moved to the US and also the first burger I ever had in my life. It absolutely set the bar. It’s a Pasadena institution and for good reason. The burger is so simple and so perfect. Just good meat, melty cheese, soft bun, no frills. The fries are exactly what you want — hot, crispy, classic. And the pie? I will never shut up about the banana cream. Unreal. The whole place feels like a time warp. Old-school counter, handwritten checks, friendly staff. It’s cash only which somehow just makes it even more iconic. Still one of my favorite meals of all time. Comfort food at its best. So glad this was my first American meal. It holds up every single time.

Amazing burgers in charming old fashioned diner. Even the veggie burger is killer! Fries, onion rings, potato salad all delicious as well. You’ll have to queue on weekends for breakfast/lunch, but it moves fast! Weeknights are pretty quiet

Been wanting to try this place for some time. Finally got here today. Definitely like stepping back to the '60s, including the paneled walls and the mechanical push button cas register. Speaking of, it is cash only here, but there is an ATM by the door. I ordered the burger combo with Onion Rings. I asked for grilled onions on the burger. My wife ordered the chili cheese fries. The first bite revealed how fresh and tasty this burger is! I confirmed that there beef is fresh and not frozen. The chili cheese fries were good and the scratch made chili was excellent. For dessert we shared a blueberry pie with a lot of freshly whipped cream. It was soooo good. The server was nice and helpful. Overall I was impressed with the quality of the food here. Ill be back to try their sandwiches next time.

Grade A (93): Burger is great, pie and shake are great, the coke is old time, syrup plus carbonated water and that works. Just a warning, it's cash only, but they do have an ATM machine there.

Pie ‘n Burger is a spot I’ve been wanting to try for ages. It’s on some lists for classic burger spots across America. So, naturally, while I was passing through, I had to stop in to try it. Word of warning: They are cash only, and if you want to try a spread of things, you will likely need to hit an ATM beforehand. This place definitely feels nostalgic. A classic burger restaurant through and through. The staff is a bit informal, but nice. The food is at a very high bar, even if the restaurant itself might not be the shiniest new thing on the block. I highly recommend getting a malt, a burger, and a slice of pie. You can’t go wrong with that combo. I know I left thoroughly satisfied with the meal.

This establishment only takes cash. But no worries, there is an ATM near the front door. I had their famous cheeseburger with grilled onions and added bacon. The sodas are handmade. This place should be on your SoCal bucket list

Nothing but quality throughout this whole menu. I ordered a simple double cheeseburger and it was absolutely packed with flavor from the fresh ground beef to the creamy thousand island. I heard it once, but I’ll say it here. This burger is the high quality version of an In N Out double-double. Totally love both of them, but this is a nice treat to enjoy once in a while. Also the fries are perfectly cooked. I tried the Dutch apple pie for the first time and absolutely fell in love. I can’t get over how good the fresh whipped cream was. I had to make sure every bite had a huge dollop on there. Can’t recommend this Pasadena staple enough. Will definitely be back!

Went here recently after a few years away. It was just as it had been. The man next to me at the counter told me he’d been coming here for decades. My cheeseburger was perfectly done and the fries were hot and delicious. Lots of street parking as far as I could tell. There’s a reason it’s been in business for so long. It’s just plain good.
